Getting started

How do I start?

Open fieldbb.com. There is no password: your account is a key made on your device, or brought back with Continue with Google if you saved it to your Google Drive. Then add contacts by hand or import them from the NPI registry, and log your first visit.

Can I have it as an app on my phone?

Yes. On iPhone, open fieldbb.com in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, Chrome offers Install app (or menu → Add to home screen). It then opens full screen and works offline.

What does the Chrome extension add?

fieldBB in a tab or in Chrome's side panel, next to whatever you are working on, and Delta Chat in fieldBB on your computer. Shortcuts: Alt+Shift+F opens fieldBB, Alt+Shift+S the side panel, Alt+Shift+V logs a visit. Signing in with Google is not available inside the extension yet: create a key there, or bring yours from another device with your key backup.

How do I change the language?

Settings → General → Language: English or Español. Dates, months and weekdays follow the app's language.

Your data

Where is my work kept?

On your device. That is what makes fieldBB work offline — and it means a lost or wiped phone takes it with it unless you have a copy. Two kinds of copy, both in Settings:

  • Your key — back it up to your Google Drive, or copy it somewhere safe. Without it, nobody (including us) can open your account.
  • Your data — Data & Sync → Sync contacts keeps an encrypted copy that your other devices pull, and Backup & restore makes a file you keep.
My contacts are gone

Almost always they are still on the device, set aside. Open Contacts: if a book is kept on this device, it says so at the top (“Contacts kept on this device · N contacts”) with a Restore here button. The same list is in Settings → Profile & Account → Data kept on this device. Restoring never mixes accounts: what the account holds now is set aside first and can be brought back the same way.

Use the same browser on the same device where they disappeared. If nothing is listed there, pull from your synced copy (Data & Sync → Sync contacts) or restore your backup file. Do not clear the browser's site data while looking — that erases what is kept on the device.

Using fieldBB on a second device

Sign in there with the same key (Google, or the key you copied), then pull your contacts from Data & Sync. Both devices then keep a copy.

Two people, one phone — or switching accounts

Use Switch account in the account menu. Each account's data stays its own, sealed with its own key when it is not signed in; nothing is ever mixed between accounts.

Exporting or deleting everything

Settings → Security & Privacy → Your data lets you take it all with you or erase it. The Privacy Policy explains your rights.

Voice rooms

How do rooms work?

A room is a live audio call for your team: Teams → your team → Rooms. The host and the people they invite onto the stage talk; everyone else listens and can raise a hand. It keeps going while you move around the app — shrink it into a small window and open it again from the header.

The host can invite team members from inside the room, or share a link for people outside the team; somebody without fieldBB who opens it creates an account and lands in the room.

Is it recorded? What about the room's chat?

Rooms are not recorded. The room's chat is for links and quick notes, and it is deleted from the server and from every device when the host ends the room. Do not discuss identifiable patients in a room.

Nobody can hear me / I cannot hear anyone
  • You need to be on the stage to talk: raise your hand, and the host can invite you up. Your microphone only turns on when you tap it.
  • If the browser asked for the microphone and you said no, allow it again from the padlock in the address bar (on a phone: the browser's site settings), then reload.
  • If the room shows Tap to hear the room, tap it: some browsers only play sound after a tap.
  • Joined from another device or tab? One connection per person: the newest one takes the seat.

Delta Chat in fieldBB

What it does

On your computer, Messages → Delta Chat lists your Delta Chat conversations; open one to read and answer it. What you send goes through your own Delta Chat account, so it appears in Delta Chat on your phone and on the other person's, with Delta Chat's notifications — and what they write appears in fieldBB within seconds. Reading it in fieldBB marks it read on your phone. You can also keep a copy of a conversation in fieldBB.

On a phone, answer in the Delta Chat app: that is where the notifications arrive. Safari is not supported for this part; use Chrome, Edge or Brave on your computer.

Setting it up (once, on your computer)
  1. Install the fieldBB extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Install Node.js (the LTS version) if you do not have it.
  3. Download fieldbb-companion.mjs.
  4. Open a terminal in the folder where it downloaded and run the command fieldBB shows in Messages → Delta Chat — it looks like node fieldbb-companion.mjs --install <extension id>.
  5. Close Chrome completely and open it again.
  6. On your phone: Delta Chat → Settings → Add second device. Scan the code with the computer's camera from fieldBB, or paste its text. Keep the phone on that screen until it finishes.
What it can and cannot do

It can list your conversations, show messages and mark them read, accept a contact request, and send text into a conversation that already exists. It cannot delete, forward, block, send files, or start a conversation with somebody new — do those in Delta Chat and they appear in fieldBB.

“The program is not installed” / it stopped
  • Close Chrome completely (all windows) and open it again after installing.
  • Run the install command again: it must name this extension's id, the one fieldBB shows on that screen.
  • “The phone's Delta Chat is newer”: download the program again and rerun the command — it brings the matching Delta Chat engine.
Removing it

In fieldBB, Unlink this computer. Then remove the program: node ~/.fieldbb-companion/fieldbb-companion.mjs --uninstall (Windows: node %LOCALAPPDATA%\fieldbb-companion\fieldbb-companion.mjs --uninstall). Your conversations stay in Delta Chat on your phone; copies you kept in fieldBB stay until you delete them.

Something is wrong

The app looks out of date, or a fix has not arrived

fieldBB updates itself. Close every fieldBB tab (or the home-screen app) and open it again; Settings → Advanced → Version shows which one you have.

“Pull failed” when pulling contacts

Update the app (above) and pull again. If it says the copy on your relays is incomplete or could not be read, nothing on your device was changed: send your contacts again from the device that has them, then pull.

It will not load, or stays on the loading screen

Reload once. If it persists, close all fieldBB tabs and open one. Please do not clear the site's data to fix it — that erases what is kept on the device — and write to us instead.

Para empezar

¿Cómo empiezo?

Abre fieldbb.com. No hay contraseña: tu cuenta es una llave creada en tu dispositivo, o recuperada con Continuar con Google si la guardaste en tu Google Drive. Después añade contactos a mano o impórtalos del registro NPI, y registra tu primera visita.

¿Puedo tenerla como app en el teléfono?

Sí. En iPhone, abre fieldbb.com en Safari → Compartir → Añadir a pantalla de inicio. En Android, Chrome ofrece Instalar app (o menú → Añadir a pantalla de inicio). Se abre a pantalla completa y funciona sin conexión.

¿Qué añade la extensión de Chrome?

fieldBB en una pestaña o en el panel lateral de Chrome, junto a lo que estés haciendo, y Delta Chat en fieldBB en tu computadora. Atajos: Alt+Mayús+F abre fieldBB, Alt+Mayús+S el panel lateral, Alt+Mayús+V registra una visita. Entrar con Google aún no está disponible dentro de la extensión: crea una llave allí, o trae la tuya de otro dispositivo con tu copia de la llave.

¿Cómo cambio el idioma?

Ajustes → General → Idioma: English o Español. Las fechas, los meses y los días siguen el idioma de la app.

Tus datos

¿Dónde se guarda mi trabajo?

En tu dispositivo. Por eso fieldBB funciona sin conexión — y por eso un teléfono perdido o borrado se lo lleva si no tienes copia. Dos copias, ambas en Ajustes:

  • Tu llave — guárdala en tu Google Drive o cópiala en un lugar seguro. Sin ella, nadie (ni nosotros) puede abrir tu cuenta.
  • Tus datos — Datos y sincronización → Sincronizar contactos guarda una copia cifrada que tus otros dispositivos descargan, y Copia de seguridad crea un archivo que guardas tú.
Desaparecieron mis contactos

Casi siempre siguen en el dispositivo, apartados. Abre Contactos: si hay una libreta guardada en este dispositivo, aparece arriba («Contactos guardados en este dispositivo · N contactos») con el botón Restaurar aquí. La misma lista está en Ajustes → Perfil y cuenta → Datos guardados en este dispositivo. Restaurar nunca mezcla cuentas: lo que la cuenta tiene ahora se aparta primero y se puede recuperar igual.

Usa el mismo navegador en el mismo dispositivo donde desaparecieron. Si no aparece nada, descarga tu copia sincronizada (Datos y sincronización → Sincronizar contactos → Descargar contactos) o restaura tu archivo de copia. No borres los datos del sitio mientras buscas: eso borra lo guardado en el dispositivo.

Usar fieldBB en un segundo dispositivo

Entra allí con la misma llave (Google, o la llave que copiaste) y descarga tus contactos desde Datos y sincronización. Los dos dispositivos guardan una copia.

Dos personas, un teléfono — o cambiar de cuenta

Usa Cambiar de cuenta en el menú de la cuenta. Los datos de cada cuenta son suyos, guardados cifrados con su propia llave cuando no está dentro; nunca se mezclan cuentas.

Exportar o borrar todo

Ajustes → Seguridad y privacidad → Tus datos te deja llevártelo todo o borrarlo. La Política de privacidad explica tus derechos.

Salas de voz

¿Cómo funcionan las salas?

Una sala es una llamada de audio en vivo para tu equipo: Equipos → tu equipo → Salas. Hablan el anfitrión y quienes invita al escenario; los demás escuchan y pueden levantar la mano. Sigue mientras te mueves por la app: redúcela a una ventana pequeña y ábrela de nuevo desde la cabecera.

El anfitrión puede invitar a miembros del equipo desde la sala, o compartir un enlace para personas de fuera; quien no tiene fieldBB y lo abre crea su cuenta y llega a la sala.

¿Se graba? ¿Y el chat de la sala?

Las salas no se graban. El chat de la sala es para enlaces y notas rápidas, y se borra del servidor y de todos los dispositivos cuando el anfitrión termina la sala. No hables de pacientes identificables en una sala.

Nadie me oye / no oigo a nadie
  • Para hablar tienes que estar en el escenario: levanta la mano y el anfitrión puede invitarte. Tu micrófono solo se enciende cuando lo tocas.
  • Si el navegador pidió el micrófono y dijiste que no, vuelve a permitirlo desde el candado de la barra de direcciones (en el teléfono: los ajustes del sitio en el navegador) y recarga.
  • Si la sala muestra Toca para escuchar la sala, tócalo: algunos navegadores solo reproducen sonido tras un toque.
  • ¿Entraste desde otro dispositivo o pestaña? Una conexión por persona: la más reciente ocupa el sitio.

Delta Chat en fieldBB

Qué hace

En tu computadora, Mensajes → Delta Chat muestra tus conversaciones de Delta Chat; abre una para leerla y responder. Lo que envías sale por tu propia cuenta de Delta Chat, así que aparece en Delta Chat en tu teléfono y en el de la otra persona, con las notificaciones de Delta Chat — y lo que te escriban aparece en fieldBB en segundos. Leerlo en fieldBB lo marca como leído en tu teléfono. También puedes guardar una copia de una conversación en fieldBB.

En el teléfono, responde en la app de Delta Chat: ahí llegan las notificaciones. Safari no es compatible con esta parte; usa Chrome, Edge o Brave en tu computadora.

Configurarlo (una vez, en tu computadora)
  1. Instala la extensión de fieldBB desde Chrome Web Store.
  2. Instala Node.js (la versión LTS) si no lo tienes.
  3. Descarga fieldbb-companion.mjs.
  4. Abre una terminal en la carpeta donde se descargó y ejecuta el comando que fieldBB muestra en Mensajes → Delta Chat — algo como node fieldbb-companion.mjs --install <id de la extensión>.
  5. Cierra Chrome del todo y ábrelo de nuevo.
  6. En tu teléfono: Delta Chat → Ajustes → Añadir segundo dispositivo. Escanea el código con la cámara de la computadora desde fieldBB, o pega su texto. Deja el teléfono en esa pantalla hasta que termine.
Qué puede y qué no puede hacer

Puede mostrar tus conversaciones, mostrar mensajes y marcarlos como leídos, aceptar una solicitud de contacto y enviar texto a una conversación que ya existe. No puede borrar, reenviar, bloquear, enviar archivos ni empezar una conversación con alguien nuevo — hazlo en Delta Chat y aparecerá en fieldBB.

«El programa no está instalado» / se detuvo
  • Cierra Chrome del todo (todas las ventanas) y ábrelo de nuevo tras instalar.
  • Vuelve a ejecutar el comando de instalación: debe llevar el id de esta extensión, el que muestra fieldBB en esa pantalla.
  • «El Delta Chat del teléfono es más nuevo»: descarga el programa de nuevo y repite el comando — trae el motor de Delta Chat que corresponde.
Quitarlo

En fieldBB, Desvincular esta computadora. Después quita el programa: node ~/.fieldbb-companion/fieldbb-companion.mjs --uninstall (Windows: node %LOCALAPPDATA%\fieldbb-companion\fieldbb-companion.mjs --uninstall). Tus conversaciones siguen en Delta Chat en tu teléfono; las copias guardadas en fieldBB se quedan hasta que las borres.

Algo no funciona

La app parece desactualizada, o no llega un arreglo

fieldBB se actualiza sola. Cierra todas las pestañas de fieldBB (o la app de la pantalla de inicio) y ábrela de nuevo; Ajustes → Avanzado → Versión muestra cuál tienes.

«No se pudo descargar» al descargar contactos

Actualiza la app (arriba) y vuelve a descargar. Si dice que la copia en tus relays está incompleta o no se pudo leer, no se cambió nada en tu dispositivo: envía tus contactos de nuevo desde el dispositivo que los tiene y luego descarga.

No carga, o se queda en la pantalla de carga

Recarga una vez. Si sigue, cierra todas las pestañas de fieldBB y abre una. Por favor no borres los datos del sitio para arreglarlo — eso borra lo guardado en el dispositivo — y escríbenos.
